Dry natural skin is the responsability of a lot of factors. Some of them include harsh weather, environment, aging, poor nutrition, pollution, cosmetics and washing too frequently. The combinations of the above mentioned factors result in dull, rough and dry skin.

An unhealthy skin may lead to lots of other health complications once the body barrier is breached. Thus this part of the body must get adequate attention through nourishing and hydrating products.

Body butters, creams, lotions they are all part of our daily basis, but what makes one better than the other one for each type of skin?

Body Butters provide the best repair and protection for the skin beside the fact that they contain lots of vitamins, nutrients and fatty acids that are great for your skin, depending on the origin of the extract. Meant for dry, dehydrated, hyper-pigmented and sometimes problematic skin conditions, body butter is very thick and takes longer to absorb into skin compared to creams or lotions and moisturizes skin more intense forming a protective layer on the skin to prevent moisture loss.

Whipped Cream is a light and fluffy form of a body butter but faster absorbing and easier to spread on the skin.

The most common butters used are Shea Butter, Cocoa butter, Mango seeds butter and Kukui nut butter.

- Shea Butter is rich in vitamins A and E and is highly moisturizing and nourishing. It protects and rejuvenates the skin thus can help reduce fine wrinkles. It is known to be good also for people with eczema and is noncomedogenic.

- Mango seeds contain Vitamin A, E and beta-carotene. Can moisture and heal skin.

- Kukui nuts are Rich in Vitamins A, C, E and fatty acids.

- Cocoa butter contains antioxidants and minerals such as iron and potassium.

Cream is an emulsion of oil and water, it is thinner then body butter, but thicker than lotion. Creams are moderate in moisturizing but absorbed faster into the skin than body butters due to their water content. After application 50% of the cream tends to evaporate and may lead the skin to dry up faster.

Lotion is thinner in texture than cream and, hence, not quite so heavy. As for composition, it is similar to cream but the oil content is a great deal less and sometimes contains no oils at all. With the highest water content, it's very lightweight and does not moisturize as well or last as long as cream or butter making it more suitable for acne prone and very oily skin condition.

Hence, creams and lotions are better suited for greasy and oily skin or during summer.
